Our Process

Phase 1: Case Contact and Referral

Attorneys representing a client needing a forensic exam contact our partner, Physicians for Human Rights (PHR). PHR will forward the client and attorney information to our team at the KHRC.  KHRC coordinators will manage contact between our volunteer physicians and PHR. Our coordinators will help schedule each client exam in conjunction with the client, interpreter, attorney, student, and volunteer faculty.  To make a referral, please visit our REFERRALS tab in the upper right corner.

        Phase 2: Evaluation

Our evaluations are conducted by volunteer faculty and medical students who have been trained in forensic documentation.  Evaluations take place at the clinic sites of our volunteer faculty or at our offices.  Interpreters are the responsibility of the referring attorney.

Phase 3: Post Evaluation Care

Our students and physicians work together to write the forensic medical report. The finalized report is submitted to PHR and our client’s legal representative.  We believe that every client should be linked to a medical home.  To this end, the clinic will provide clients with referrals for medical coverage and medical care to be followed up by the referring attorney.
